This privacy notice lets you know what happens to your personal data we use and hold when you have lessons with us.  

If you provide us with personal information on behalf of another person, you must ensure that it is accurate, up to date and that you have their authorisation to do so.  You should make sure that you provide them with a copy of this privacy notice.  Where this privacy policy refers to “you” this also includes data about anyone else whose data you provide to us.

Who we are

We are K & W & Daughters.  Our main address is 19 Burnham Road, Latchingdon, Chelmsford CM3 6EU.  We are the data controller of any personal data you provide us with.

Personal Data we hold and use

We use different types of information about you.  We set out below the types of information we will use or hold:

  • Your contact details, including any ICE contacts you may provide us with
  • Your date of birth
  • Details of your contact with us and your payment details
  • Driving license information
  • Information about your health or if you need any adjustments or assistance with any disabilities
  • Third party transactions, such as where a person other than you pays for our services
  • Your image for use in social media marketing

We may be unable to provide you with our services if you do not provide certain information to us.  In cases where providing some personal information is optional, we’ll make this clear.

Sources of your personal data

The information that we hold about you comes from different sources, these are:

  • The instructor who provides you with lessons
  • You directly, and any information from family members (for example if they are authorised to ac for you or book lessons for you)
  • From sources such as publicly available directories and information (e.g. social media, internet)

Reasons for holding and using your personal data

Your information may be used by us for the reasons below.  We have grouped them according to the legal reason we are allowed to use this data:

The categories of third parties we use are listed below.  We will use these third parties for all the reasons we have described in this notice and they may process the types of personal information we hold or use:

  • With our instructors as part of administering lessons and driver training
  • With people you allow us to speak to on your behalf (e.g. parents, guardians, employers, if they book lessons for you)
  • With service providers who help us provide products or services to you or operate our business
  • Police and law enforcement agencies if we are required to
  • Governmental and regulatory bodies, such as the DVSA and the DVLA and the Information Commissioner’s Office
  • Organisations and businesses who provide services to us under our authority, such as service providers, debt recovery agents and suppliers of business support services

Retention of your data

Unless we inform you otherwise, we’ll hold your personal information based on the following criteria:

  • For as long as we provide services to you and then for as long as someone could need your details as required by law

Marketing

We will never pass your personal information to third parties for the purposes of marketing.  On successful completion of your driving test, we will ask for a photograph of you with our vehicle for promotional use on our Facebook account, such posts include your name and image, you have the right to refuse to consent all or any part of this request.  You may opt to receive details about any future training offers, promotions, or any other services we may offer from time to time.   You can withdraw your consent at any time, by contacting us on the details below.

We may change this privacy notice from time to time to reflect changes in the law and/or our privacy practices.  We encourage you to check this privacy notice periodically for any changes.
